I have two hard drives and the secondary hard drive turns off constantly. When you resume a computer from sleep or from hibernation, the SATA hard disk drivers require the SATA hard disks to be ready within 10 seconds. The laptop is using the OEM power supply/battery that HP included with it at date of manufacturing. I tried changing the power settings various ways and I flipped the WRITE CACHING also but I appreciate the suggestions. Sometimes going from UEFI to Legacy mode, reboot, switching back to UEFI and rebooting again clears a lot of issues with HDD recognition on start-up... There seems to be nothing wrong with the HDD itself, CHKDSK returns no errors, disk checking returns no errors, windows hardware error finding reports no errors with hardware, the disk reads Ssd Disappears Windows 10 It at least survives a short term sleep.

Just as a final note, I have all latest drivers for my hardware installed and I had NOT changed anything prior to having this HDD problem, no new drivers were installed, Maybe even a recent update that could have started this problem, if it didn't occur before some update then undoing the update / rolling back the software could make it go
