When I'm using BSPlayer to watch videos the problem doesn't appear so I tried to listen to music in BSPlayer and it works great. Before you start posting please read the forum rules. Testing was carried out on Windows 7, 64-bit. I have installed the most recent version of ffdshow from the site, even set the merit of the program all the way up with the slider and no cigar.

Tried to play music with WMP12 and getting the same problem (but sound less frequently distorts). Nor do I use Outlook. I started have the same problems as you, in addition to my Microsoft games and any Windows player not playing. In any event, if you run into problems with this codec, simply remove it via "Uninstall/Change" (Control Panel>Programs and Features>Windows 7 Codec Pack). Ever since switching to Windows 7 which comes with Windows Media Player 12, I cannot get ffdshow to work. I have only two choices to play DVDs: 1) Use a third player in my Windows 7 Home Basic, or 2) Upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and use the default I will remain puzzled as to why it took nearly 8 months for ffdshow to exhibit the problem.
