The Start Screen is YOURS to manage... But again, those who use such apps (content creators instead of consumers) would want Metro apps out of their way, no desktop apps such these. Much easier to delete unwanted ones. Run the Windows 8 App Troubleshooter Repair Windows 8 Apps Check if you have any third-party software which you may have installed just before this problem started. We would be back where we started with unwanted stuff on the start screen.

I was just starting to use them in Windows 8 and now they turn them off in 8.1! The language support shouldn't be an issue for these kinds of apps.
