Hibernation as well, doesnt that take up space too. You can delete all, the oldest, or individual shadow copies on a selected drive/volume that has system protection turned on for it to be able to free up space for that Anyone know anything about it? Restore points take up to 1GB per shot, but they can be smaller depending what you have on C: Also I suggest to put your user data on a seperate partition

When i run your program, on windowsxp, as i get to the point to restore the disk capacity I get the message: Reported capacity:33.820GB; Factory capacity: -1 Bytes and cappacity difference: As the space you set fills up, older restore points will automatically be deleted to make room for the new ones, so you shouldn't have a problem at all." Now, as i have read many posts about it but in fact all solutions were useless .
It is the only tool (out of 12) that I was able to get working to restore the original size of my HD. The native size is now set to 137Gb and also "HDD Capacity Restore" shows me a Factory Capacity of 137Gb and so it restores only this size. Windows kept asking me to format.. For better maintenance, it is recommended to run Disk Cleanup every so often to help keep junk off your computer.1.
There are ways to get around this problem, but since these Operating Systems are rather rare nowadays, I do not see the point of writing about them. I also tried to turn off System Restore, reboot, then enable again but it failed. But it caused me to reinstall windows twice before even thinking of this problem. ALL PROGRAMS - ThinkVantage Rescue and RecoveryOnce open go to the advanced menu and delete the backups. Make sure that there is no other device attached to the same cable (like another hard drive or a CD/DVD drive).
MY pc is running Windows XP and that was my Idea to clone my drive and put it in his computer . . . Removed the new drive and attached via USB to my pc running your Capacity Restore Freeware. Managed to reset disc first by zeroing it with WD utility followed by old Maxtor utility used this method twice unfortunately on the third attempt it failed to work whether I So the point is, be prepared for it to take a LONG time.
You can check that by running BIOS Setup and looking for things like "DCO" or "HPA".
